Exchange takes place during the 8th semester as part of the Science Semester.
After successful application, we will nominate you to the host university. You then register at the host institution and independently choose a research project. This project must be coordinated with the Dentistry Programme Office (e-mail: Fachstudienberatung-ZM@dek.med.uni-muenchen.de) and documented in the supervision agreement, sent to you after Erasmus approval.
Deadlines for submission of the supervision agreement:
- Winter semester: May 1
- Summer semester: November 1
Important:
If you attend a regular semester at your host university without completing a research project under the Science Semester framework, no credits can be transferred, and your studies may be prolonged. Early planning and individual counselling are strongly recommended.

Student Testimonial
“As part of my semester abroad, I had the opportunity to study at Semmelweis University in Budapest. During my stay, I wrote a scientific project in the field of periodontology, supervised by the local professors. Part of my work involved measuring radiographs and analysing and writing up the results in English. … In addition, I was able to take various courses, gain valuable practical experience – including my first tooth extraction – and gain many interesting insights into the Hungarian study system. Particularly enriching was the personal exchange with students and lecturers on site. … Budapest itself impressed me with its stunning architecture, cultural diversity and vibrant atmosphere. … I would also like to highlight the excellent cooperation between Semmelweis University and Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München, which made this project possible in the first place.”
